Kahukura Maori Healing Partnership

Kahukura Maori Healing Partnership is an initiative of brother and sister Aperahama Te Aika Kipa and Maire Kipa.  Our vision is to push back on the negative impacts of urbanisation work to strengthen the mauri (lifeforce) of local waterways.  If we heal the land we heal the people - physically, mentally and spiritually.

Te Ao Turoa (our natural world) provides spaces and places for our spiritual, physical and mental health and wellbeing.  Our aims are to help you reconnect at Whanau Planting Days, studying and learning the art of Rongoa Maori Healing.  Our Tohunga Aperahama and Ra are here to guide positive thoughts and action.

We are proud to say we were recipients of Wave 12 Te Putahitanga o Te Waipounamu the South Island Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency.  A Whanau-led, whanau centred initiative sharing local and traditional knowledge .  We achieved amazing outcomes to grow Katiakitanga of how to apply the values and teachings of kaitiakitanga, tohungatanga, manaakitanga and wairuatanga.  Mahinga Kai values promote the right of tangata whenua to access places of healing and ancestral connection in Otautahi"

When whanau know local Whenua, Ngahere, Puna and Awa we can sustain mahinga kai practices, nature based healing and ancestral connection!  These activities all serve to strengthen whanau and community resilience in  the following ways:

  1. Offer Rongoa Maori Clinics Monday, Tuesday & Wednesdays since 20 October 2020
  2. Hosting a Rongoa Wananga at local marae and Kaputahi Rongoa Reserve 567 Marshlands Rd
  3. Whanau and Community Events
    1. Summer on the Styx Feb 2022
    2. Matariki Dawn Plantings since 2014.
    3. Release & Shine Events
    4. Rangiatea: Talking Circles to strengthen taha hinengaro/mental health
